Annapolis Tools

Tools I design, machine, and print, for shops and sailors who need something that doesn't exist yet.

Annapolis Tools is a small CNC and 3D-printing shop. Three lines: work-holding and setup tools for small professional shops, workflow tools for anyone running a 3D printer for real work, and custom hardware for sailors, machined or printed to fit a boat that doesn't match anyone's catalog part number. What's below is a first look at that work: pieces built for my own bench, shown here because they might solve your problem too.

This is a new shop. Everything shown below is an example part from my own bench, not a live catalog yet, so specs are illustrative and pricing isn't set until the first customer pieces are through testing.

Three lines, one shop

Same standard, three different problems.

CNC tools for small shops

Machined to order, in small runs.

Work-holding, fixturing, and setup tools for the one- and two-person CNC shop: the parts that make a repeat job fast the second time, not just the first. New to this? Read work-holding basics or what a tolerance callout is for.

Example parts from my own bench. Nothing below is orderable yet.

Quick-Change Fixture Plate

A modular T-slot baseplate so a work-holding setup can be torn down and rebuilt to the same zero, not re-indicated from scratch.

6061 aluminum · 300 × 300mm · anodized

Price TBD Example part
CNC tools · Setup

Tool Length Offset Gauge

A hardened setting gauge for a fast, repeatable Z-zero on a benchtop mill, without touching off the stock every time.

hardened tool steel · 50mm reference · ±0.01mm

Price TBD Example part

3D-printed tools for small shops

For a printer running real jobs, not just prototypes.

Workflow and calibration tools for anyone running a print farm, or a single benchtop printer, as a working part of a small operation rather than a hobby bench. See why wet filament ruins a print or what auto bed leveling fixes.

Example parts from my own bench. Nothing below is orderable yet.

3D-printed tools · Calibration

Bed-Level Calibration Puck Set

CNC-machined reference pucks for an auto bed-leveling probe, so "probably level" becomes a number you can check.

6061 aluminum · set of 5 · ±0.02mm

Price TBD Example part
3D-printed tools · Workflow

Filament Dry-Box Organizer

A modular spool and desiccant organizer that keeps hygroscopic filament dry between prints, not just on the shelf.

PETG · holds 4 spools · sealed lid

Price TBD Example part

Built for sailors

Machined or printed to fit, not adapted from a catalog part.

Custom deck hardware and belowdecks fittings for a boat that doesn't match anyone's part number, the sailing connection this shop shares with Sail Commons. Not sure which process fits your part? Read CNC or 3D-printed: choosing the right process.

Sailor tools · Deck hardware

Machined Winch Handle Holder

A deck-mount holder machined to a custom bolt pattern, for a cockpit layout no stock bracket was drawn for.

6061 aluminum · custom bolt pattern · anodized

Price TBD Example part
Sailor tools · Belowdecks

Printed Cable & Line Organizer

A printed cable and hose manager sized to an actual bilge or lazarette, instead of trimmed down from an RV part.

nylon · printed to order · salt-water rated

How these are made

The same rules, every time.

Designed here

Every part starts as a CAD model I draw myself.

Machined or printed to order

Small-batch CNC and 3D-printed runs, not warehoused inventory. Lead time is real, and padding it wouldn't make it shorter.

Real materials, stated plainly

6061 aluminum, stainless hardware, PETG or nylon depending on the load. Material and finish are listed on every part, not hidden behind a marketing name.

Fixed when I'm wrong

A design that fails in the field gets revised the next time it ships.
